このデータベースの作成にたずさわった安渓遊地（あんけい・ゆうじ）と安渓貴子は、1974年から八重山の地域研究を始めました。1990年にＮ子さんと出会い、30年間にわたってたくさんの資料をおあずかりしたことから、2020年度の科学研究費補助金・成果公開（データベース）の支援を得て、一般公開することになったものです。

　同様のプロジェクトとして、西表島の生物文化と地名データベース、コンゴ民主共和国・ソンゴーラ人の文化遺産データベースがあります。

   ANKEI Yuji and Takako began studying human-nature relationship in Yaeyama, southernmost islands of the Ryukyus from 1974. During the study, we met Ms. N. in Yonaguni, and started to collaborate with her  for three decades. In 2020, we received a Grant from Kakenhi of JSPS-MEXT (学振・文科省), Japan, which aided us to compile the data as a multimedia cloud database. In the past, we also compiled similar database on Bioculture and Toponymies of Iriomote Island, and on Cultural Heritage of the Songola people in D. R. Congo.

　1974年，安溪遊地和安溪貴子開始在琉球八重山研究人與自然的關係。其中我們在與那國島遇見了N.女士，並開始與她合作已有三十年。日本學術振興會和文部科學省的科研費授予的2020財年的資助下，我們設法將這資料編為多媒體雲數據庫。  我們還編輯了有關西表島的生物文化和地名以及剛果民主共和國的Songola人文化遺產的類似數據庫。
